Hotel arrangements are being handled differently this year. Attendees will be responsible for reserving and covering the cost of their rooms for MALESW.

A block of rooms has been set aside at the Montego Bay for a limited time. NOTE Deadline Change: The deadline for making your reservation is August 5, 2011. Attendees will get a special discounted weekend rate. You must mention 'Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Survivors' Weekend' in order to get the special rate. Cost for the entire weekend package starts at about $250 per couple/per room and $65 for each additional person (children 5 & under free). Rates increase based on room upgrade. Check-in is on Friday, 9/30, and check-out is on Sunday. 10/2. Included in your rate are the Friday and Saturday nights' stay, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, dinner Saturday evening, and a 'Family Night/Beef & Beer' party on Friday night.

You may also make your own reservations at any open hotel in the area. However, you will not be registered for the 'Family Night/Beef & Beer' party, nor will you get the meals that are included with the Montego Bay room rate. You will be able to buy a 'Beef & Beer' party ticket at the event.

important message from the MALESW committee

In previous years and in a better economy, the MALESW committee made every effort to obtain donations from the community and businesses in order to cover the cost of hotel rooms for attendees. The expense of covering such a large number of rooms was very high and only increased every year, although donations and other financial support decreased. Due to economic and other reasons this year, the funds are not available to allow for the thousands of dollars needed to cover attendee rooms. Therefore, attendees will be responsible for making the reservations and covering the cost of the room for the event weekened.

We understand this makes things difficult for some of us survivors and supporters. Many of the survivor support organizations, such as the C.O.P.S. chapters, will reimburse the survivors for the cost of the rooms after the event. Please check with your particular organization for details.

It was a difficult decision for all of us. The funding is not there to allow for the MALESW committee to pay for attendee rooms.
