About MALESW
Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Survivors Weekend (MALESW) will be held from Friday, September 26 through Sunday, September 28, 2008. It will be an amazing weekend where old friends get to see each other again and new survivors will became part of our close-knit family. View the weekend's schedule to get a list of events, along with the 5K Run and Parade applications.
MALESW is unique in that it recognizes the truly forgotten heroes: the survivors of fallen law enforcement officers. Survivors include family members and co-workers. The weekend focuses on law enforcement survivors from the following states: New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. However, in past years we have honored the requests of families that reside in our region and hosted families from Georgia and Colorado, in addition to those from the Mid-Atlantic region. We are also different in that we recognize survivors from not just the current year, but those that were killed in the line of duty from the past. The event is hosted annually by the North Wildwood Police Department and is held in the seashore resort of North Wildwood, New Jersey. War at the Shore Spectacular: Blue Flame against the Strongest!
Every year to raise money for the Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Survivors Weekend, the city of North Wildwood, New Jersey, hosts the War at the Shore fundraising football game. This year the game was played on Saturday, April 19, 2008 in perfect weather. It couldn't have been better and the turnout was fantastic - it gets better every year. The Philadelphia Blue Flame beat the DSNY Strongest, 6 - 0 (DSNY is the the New York Department of Sanitation.) Hopefully, some folks took photos and we'll be able to post them online!
Both teams are members of the National Public Safety Football League (NPSFL). The NPSFL is a union of public safety agency football teams from throughout the United States, united to promote a positive self image to the public by raising funds for charity through spirited competition. The NPSFL is a 501(c)(3) organization and its players are made up of law enforcement and firefighter/EMT teams from across the country. Each NPSFL team plays their games to raise money for different charities. To learn more, visit: www.npsfl.com
